About

I am a dutch research-oriented photographer, fascinated by the unstable relationship between humans and their environment, both material and natural. My work explores environmental awareness, overconsumption, the future, uncertainty, and shame, with a focus on the difficult relationship between humans and nature. By alternating between personal stories and broader socio-ecological contexts, I investigate how these circumstances shape the lived experience.

As a maker, I move through the world with a great need for grip and structure. In this era of ecological instability and societal unpredictability, the certainties I previously relied on are fading. We live in a slowly dying world: how do we deal with this? For me, photography is a method to reclaim control, by observing and searching for the answer. It has become a means for me to connect with the unknown.

I work participatively, safeguarding the privacy of those portrayed by anonymizing details through (digital) image editing or framing. With atmosphere and friction, my work invites active uncertainty and a reflection on not-knowing, in order to find a new relationship with our environment and fellow human beings.
